Life Purpose Coaching

What is Life Planning?

Life planning is the process in which you look at every area of your life and see what fits and whether it is what you really want and need. You then set goals for the next one to ten years. These goals are based on your values and encompass all aspects of your life, including: financial independence, career direction, ultimate life accomplishments, family and community design, quality of life issues, and prioritization of all of the above. As part of the process you will discover your mission, or life purpose, and what to do with it. The end result is a Personal Life Map that provides a visual display of your life.

Why you Need a Coach

Coaching is a process for bringing about changes in your life so that you are moving in a direction consistent with your own values and priorities. Even if you do not know how to get there, the first step in making a change is identifying what you truly want. A coach can help you:

  • Get a lifetime perspective that will guide you to set better goals today
  • Make better choices today because you have become aware of more choices in life
  • Prioritize and re-orient around what matters most to you
  • Create a life plan that includes major goals and a path of development

7 Key Points About Life Planning

1. IF you don’t make choices for you life, others will

  • Choosing what you want in life and out of life is a very new notion and skill for most
  • Currently, our choices are being made by circumstances, weak foundation, past, parents
  • At some point, a person “gets” that they are able to and MUST actively make choices

2. It is possible to set life-time goals

  • There are 3 types of lifetime goals: Material, Goals and Relationships
  • The job of the coach is to work with you on integrating and prioritize these 3 types
  • Linear goal-setting works better with a strong Personal Foundation (PF)

3. Eventually, the goals to set will occur to you

  • Rather than setting goals to become somebody (Ego) or succeed, listen for the quieter goals
  • If you surround yourself with well, successful and model people, you’ll accomplish goals even without consciously setting them
  • Create extraordinary environments around you to prompt goals/attract results

4. Start focusing on what comes naturally to you

  • Stop trying to master what is difficult. It is difficult for a reason, like a road hazard sign. Yield!
  • Ignore conventional wisdom and start creating your own, yet work on Personal Foundation concurrently
  • Have a standard that you only do what comes easiest and makes YOU feel special

5. Don’t live your life for others

  • New heights of selfishness may be required to make this your life plan
  • If you are compelled to help/assist others or to “make a difference” something is off
  • Get that you are living your life you way – greatly – and that is plenty of enough of a life purpose

6. “Get” how short and temporary life is

  • Don’t wait for the cancer-scare-one-year-to-live prompt. Set those goals NOW
  • Let go of “should”, “could”, “ought to” and “consequence-avoidance” goals
  • Unhook yourself from past or familial expectation. This boxes you in; slows growth

7. You can make radical changes & still be responsible

  • First, tell the truth about what you really want or don’t want, even if the “how” isn’t clear
  • Second, find a coach or other supportive person to help you “try out” the new life/goal
  • Third, create the plan/strategy to help you get/do/be what you want without losing anything

What you can expect from me as a coach

  • An impartial voice that helps identify your values and sets goals based on those values
  • Challenging the status quo with new and different ideas to help you get “unstuck”
  • A realistic approach to clearing unresolved matters

BOTTOM LINE: A supportive person who understands your unique needs and provides the guidance you require to getting those needs met in all aspects of your life.

  2. Articulate the ten things you want most
  3. Use our Clean Sweep program to toss out what you don’t want, resolve conflicts and strengthen your personal foundation.
  4. Put it all into action by making one of your top ten “wants” a reality within 90 days.
